And then when they got it, then it got real. It did that. The record label was like, I said, ‘You just got it,’ because they knew what it was going to sound like, and we said, Uh, okay. Go and record, because if you’re gonna get it, then you’ll get it.’ So we did a record for ’80s. We were in the process of making it. And it was kind of kind of, like, Oh yeah, you got it, we’re gonna do it that way.
Do you think it would be like, like, all of a sudden
It’s going to be like, it’s never gonna sound the same thing again. I still love that the band is doing it. They were so young. And the band, the producers, they don’t want to go back and rehash something that you might love from the past. It’s got to change.
And what about the legacy in the past
Yeah there’s been too much. There’s always more work that has to be done. There was a time where we were at the center of a big thing and there were a lot of people around and we were just like really mad at each other and it got pushed a little bit harder on the record. So after a while we just stopped thinking about that. And now that we’re working on it, if you want to go back and listen, see if we really know anything about it right now.
It’s great to hear that you’d like to tour and be with these artists. The reason you’re on this record is they’re already doing the same kind of stuff you’ve worked on and been doing for years. Did anything on you just come from being with this producer
We had a long time, maybe two, like a year, trying to do it. That was one of my things, which was that we didn’t really have any real idea of what to do. We just wanted a little little bit to get into the rhythm and just try not to blow anybody’s mind.
