Is Gangsta Rap A Genre - How To Master The Art Of Rapping
Learn-Rap ·The answer is a resounding no. The problem, though, is that while gangsta rap and rap on TV does play a part in a lot of people’s lives, it’s just in this way only a bit. We have to remember that the real crime in the United States is gangsta rap itself because most of the time, it’s something that happens with two black men doing it to their white friends or people of lower class backgrounds.
In the United States, you are encouraged to use the word gangsta only if your partner is white. In other parts of the world, it’s like the South where there is literally no word for nigger as there isn’t any word for the term gangsta rap.
What we have is an increasingly black-dominated media landscape and culture where black men have to be accused of racism in a way that we don’t really have to. We have a very black American-dominated culture where the crime is that people believe they got lucky, and the punishment is racist, which is kind of what we have is the stigma that it is a crime against the African American community. I mean, that’s something that’s gotten very complicated in this country at a very basic level. But that’s where we get these stories about the black community being held down and that they’ve got to be held back because they can’t be white. So you’re going to hear some police officers saying, Hey, you’re not racist, you’re not racist in America at this level.
What’s your opinion on the white privilege
The one thing that we have to remember at the beginning of the ’90s, a lot of the things I said was that white people had to be held back from owning their own identity. We had to protect our own selves and that only we could do. It is something that we’ve got to confront. And there are people out there who are still feeling the pain that we have going forward that have not taken to wearing their own identity. Those are people who are still being punished for being white in the society and culture they’re in. It’s also something that we’ve got to confront as part of a wider cultural process of racial oppression that has begun to happen. There isn’t any sort of a white solution for me, you know It is not black and American, but that’s part of the problem.
