At the end of the 19th century, the American founders had a great opportunity for their ideas to evolve. At the same time, they would also gain invaluable knowledge in the field of chemistry.
When these founders learned about natural science and natural technology, they realized it would take years of study to master them effectively. Many of today’s breakthrough scientists, engineers, and innovators never imagined that they would one day be able to get their ideas to reality.
This is when Henry Wallace, the inventor of the first electricity (it was his invention that created the modern microwave) came up with the invention of the transistor. Since that time no one could predict how it would work in every other field, it was the only breakthrough in physics that was successful.
A century ago, it was called the idea of the transistor, David S. Guggenheim, author of the most influential book on the subject of science and technology, told Fortune in 2011.
To solve the problem of how a transistor behaves, Guggenheim and his colleagues developed a mathematical equation that can predict and estimate the voltage of electrons in the semiconductor. The equation was known throughout modern scientific society as the ‘proton curve’.
Guggenheim and his colleagues developed the formula, known as the Hamilton curve, by using two known factors the rate at which electrons are excited through the semiconductor and the speed at which electrons can be stimulated when they are charged from a source. The algorithm worked perfectly for a transistor with 100 percent charge and 100 percent voltage. The equation gave Guggenheim and his collaborators a solid scientific foundation for the research they were doing in an open-source environment.
In the process of producing a device that would measure voltage, and make it perform similarly to the transistor it would operate at that level of power, Guggenheim realized that an electrical current is not something that you just learn by reading something on a TV screen. Rather, you come to expect how much current is present from your surroundings.
But the equations themselves were not well understood.
We never had a clear understanding of the mechanics of how the electrons are charged, or why they can be stimulated, Guggenheim says.
