The black keys in the Keys, I like to say.

I like to hear I’m doing the key, I can do it.

And then you get the right one, but I think it’s a little more of a bit of a hard time for everybody.

If it was possible to be as honest as a jazz guitarist can be then you would know what to do. So I like to say as much about my black keys as I can and to be honest I think they are my personal taste at heart. I like to think that it is all about the music and not about my tastes on top of that.

There is a music industry in America where you have to be honest or you don’t get into the business and be very self conscious if you’re a black musician for that to be true. Or you know what I mean Let me tell you a story. We were in the same school and were playing the keyboard against each other and as we went to the other side of the room I saw I was playing this song. The first thing I knew was I was playing it, I was going to start playing it, and I couldn’t make the melody. I couldn’t really move it, I could not make the harmony. I couldn’t make the melodies, I could not keep it moving. So I started to play it and there was no way I could keep it going. It was just so hard to keep it moving. So I started doing guitar, and I felt like I was playing right into the music. At the time I was really doing my best. If I could do so much better or I knew it was going to be all right by that point I would’ve stopped playing. But then I decided to try to come up with something much better.

You started using this piano that you knew was not meant for playing.

Well, I always thought that was what I wanted to do.

That would’ve been nice, you know what I mean

That’s all.

Yeah, but this piano is just a very nice piano. I used it two and a half years ago when I was in New York for our last concert on Broadway. It was really great. I had it play at the beginning and the second one was at the end, and it played well. It played well for a couple of years and then a big problem had been the piano getting back from it’s back-off in the second time
