Who does President Trump appoint to the National Guard
As you can see from this picture, President Trump is running under the banner of the National Guard. But he also runs under the banner of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
What is the current federal workforce structure
It is going to be very different because at this point we are in a transition period. And right now we have this Department of Defense, there is a very active National Guard on the payroll of the Department of Veterans Affairs and we have a very different set of people than any other department in the history of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
What does the current workforce look like under President Trump
The National Guard is going to be very different. There have been a lot of changes so far. We have some guys that are the veterans at Fort Bragg. We have a new military leader there, Lt. Gen. Joe Nicholson, as we have seen his tenure with the Department of Defense. So we will have a lot more, more training staff and more leadership there and we will be able to be better equipped for what he has to offer if we want to be effective stewards of our national security.
What does the Trump administration’s actions, including the firing of former military Chief of Staff John Kelly, mean for the Veterans Administration
There really isn’t much new, very aggressive activity being done to address the issues that VA provides services to Veterans.
Trump, in interviews on NBC’s Today show yesterday, appeared to have given no hint of his intentions, but he suggested that the VA might be looking at some of the VA’s work to further improve its service status. The VA is scheduled to close down its military force this fall, and its current workforce will likely be much bigger than those of the previous administration. It will still be an operational staff agency, but the service of all service members won’t be impacted by the cuts. This year, the Army will close its base in Arlington, leaving the aging service without its full complement of soldiers and sailors. The Army has a full complement of troops, including some who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, because of the massive pay cut and attrition.
